After an education in engineering that led to a career in product development working with companies such as Newell Rubbermaid, Haley Bohon said goodbye to the corporate world and founded SkillPop in August of 2015. SkillPop offers intensive, hands-on classes on skills ranging from hand lettering, to photography, to small business marketing, to hip hop dance. In the two years since then, SkillPop has hosted more than one thousand classes, reaching more than 13,000 students in four cities.
In this edition of the #CharlotteIsCreative podcast, Haley talks about breaking society’s unwritten rules, the challenges she’s faced as a bootstrap entrepreneur, the misconceptions about Charlotte as a startup city, and what it’s like to work with your spouse.
