Welcome to the Creative Mornings Charlotte podcast. Today’s show features hosts Tim Miner and Matt Olin speaking with tattoo artist Stacy Smith, immediately following the January 4 Creative Mornings Charlotte event at Divine Barrel Brewing, where Stacy spoke about the global theme of “Surreal.”
A true born-and-raised Charlottean, Stacy Smith has always been a creative, and began work at a tattoo artist shortly after graduating high school. Most recently, Stacy gained national notoriety by appearing on the 11th season of Ink Master, the cult-reality tattoo TV show hosted by Dave Navarro. Today, Stacy’s studio, “Tattoo Me Charlotte” is one of the most popular studios in the city, located in the heart of South End.
In this episode of the Creative Mornings Charlotte podcast, Stacy talks about creating a business from scratch (with no formal entrepreneurship education), how zoning codes threatened to derail her business before it got started, and the stigmas she faces from the public and even from other tattoo artists.
Register for the next Creative Mornings Charlotte event Friday, February 1 at 8:30 a.m. The featured speaker will be members of Charlotte City Council, speaking about the global theme of “Symmetry”. RSVPs will open at 9 a.m., Monday, January 28.
Don’t forget to use the hashtag #CharlotteIsCreative, and tweet us @CM_CLT whenever you see Charlotteans showing their creativity.
Before we hear from Stacy, Matt and Tim talk to Gavin Toth, one of the co-owners of Divine Barrel Brewing, and the host for this month’s Creative Mornings Charlotte event.
The Creative Mornings Charlotte Podcast is hosted by Tim Miner and Matt Olin, and produced by Andy Goh. Music by Harvey Cummings.
